The primary raw material for polyester sewing thread is polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is a synthetic fiber. According to its structure, it can be classified as follows:

Short-fiber type: Made from polyester short fibers, it has lower costs but slightly lower strength.
Filament type: Uses polyester filament directly, offering higher strength (second only to nylon thread).
Core-spun type: Uses polyester filament as the core, with other fibers wrapped around it to enhance performance.

Special types, such as polyester-cotton yarn, are blended with 65% polyester and 35% cotton, while high-strength yarn may be produced using a purified spinning process.
